Thyme areas are constituted mostly by wild thyme, by grasses such as Agrostis truncatula subsp. commista, by one or two perennial species of the genus Sedum and by several bulbous geophytes (Narcissus bulbocodium, Scilla monophyllos, etc.).They constitute patches of vegetation, associated to heather areas. They colonize granite or schistose soils, being more frequent on slopes and in hollows. It is a habitat that is widely represented in Portugal.
