Mat grass areas (6230) are usually poor and wet mountain meadows. In the past few years the preservation state of this habitat has been worsening due to the reduction of pasture, resulting in an increase of shrubby vegetation, especially cross-leved heath (Erica tetralix) and common heather (Calluna vulgaris).
