NAME OF INTEREST - Fial shelters

CONCEPT - Cultural Heritage

At Fial or Colado da Porta we can see two structures of distinct style, function and period of building. One is a shelter similar to that seen at ‘Abrigo do Curral da Travanquinha’, albeit of a smaller size. The layout is sub-circular, built in granite and capped by a false cupola. The other, closer to the road, is more of a house-like structure, rectangular in plan and with a ridge roof, the walls made of medium to large granite blocks and with various openings for windows and doors. This building was constructed by the Serviços Florestais in the middle of the 20th century and also provided support for the road building works.
