The hamlet of Outeiro is one of the four settlements that form the Parish of Outeiro. Each of these settlements has a special beauty, added to by the great mirror of water provided by the Paradela Reservoir and by the green water meadows that are so characteristic of Montalegre. These settlements are similar to the others in the rural world of the northwest ‘beyond the mountains’, where activities linked to cattle, the fields, smoking of meat, bee keeping and handicrafts occupy the daily routine of those who live and work here.
In the hamlet of Outeiro we can see the imposing Parochial Church with its bell tower alongside the front – the church of São Tomé de Parada do Gerês, as it was named in the times when the village of Parada was the Parochial headquarters.
