NAME OF INTEREST - Heather- gorse areas 2 in a matrix of an oak-grove

CONCEPT - Natural Heritage

This point is constituted by Galician-Portuguese non-coastal heather-gorse areas (habitat 4030pt2), included in the European dry heath. The most common species are prickled broom (Pterospartum tridentatum), the two kinds of gorse (Ulex sp. pl.), common heather (Calluna vulgaris) and grasses, such as curtisii and Agrostis x folhadei.
This area of brushwood is part of a patchwork of oak-groves. These areas are very important for several animals, such as the wolf or the deer that feed in one habitat and find refuge in another. These two animals are very difficult to spot, but their traces, such as faeces or markings on bushes can be easily observed.
