Vale da Teixeira Route

The Vale da Teixeira Route passes through the Gerês mountain range, following along a path of about 10 kilometres. It begins on a forest track near “Pedra Bela”, then connects with an old path that takes us, through the heart of the mountain range, to the superb valley of “Teixeira”. After going through this valley we then reach “Portela da Presa”, and, finally, Leonte, where the route ends.
The ground conditions on this route mean it can only be followed on foot. We recommend about 6 hours to do the entire route and see all the points of interest suggested (we have identified and describe 29 points of interest, related to natural, cultural, geological and scenic interest).
This route is graded medium to high difficulty, and as such is recommended only for people who are physically fit and experienced walkers.
